13 - 17 November 2017
Rotterdam, The Netherland
Riskonet B.V. in association with NFPA is hosting this official NFPA sprinkler engineering course in Europe.
The NFPA is a globally acknowledged and accepted authority in the field of fire prevention and their standards are universally adopted and applied around the world. In order to support these fundamentals and the growing network of fire engineering practitioners, the NFPA has committed to establishing the same training in Europe that was previously only available in the US.
The training is to be conducted by the same professional NFPA lecturers used in the US. This sought after education will be to the same quality, standard and with the identical certification as delivered in the US. The handout material for library and future reference has been adapted for European application.
The tutors have participated and contributed in the development of NFPA codes and standards and are internationally recognized consultants. There is no limitation or prerequisite for attendance but delegate numbers are limited to ensure quality attention and value delivery. Do not miss this opportunity to take advantage of the best professional training on the most significant aspect of fire protection sprinklers.
Who should attend
For all fire engineers, inspection authorities, certification bodies, plan reviewers, designers, installers, inspectors, insurers, risk consultants, risk managers, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the NFPA 13 and learn how to deal with the fire protection of storage occupancies in particular. Remain current with the latest industry developments and practices, new developments and shared experiences. These interactive seminars will bring you up-to speed on provisions found in the latest editions of NFPA 13.
A five-day training session is planned which will take place at the SS Rotterdam, The Netherlands
13 - 17 November 2017
The seminar will be held at the SS Rotterdam.
Each delegate registration for the selected week is EUR 2,250.= (excl. VAT). This includes lunch, coffee breaks, and the seminar material including the hardcopy of the NFPA 13, 2016 edition. NFPA members pay EUR 2,150.= (excl. VAT). Register for the NFPA Experience without delay. Share in this unique knowledge and network opportunity with your fellow delegates. Complete the registration form attached to book your place at the SS Rotterdam.
Each program is structured over a 5 day period as follows.
Monday - Tuesday
Installation of Sprinkler Systems (NFPA 13)
Correctly installed sprinkler systems reduce both damage and loss of life in building fires by up to 67 percent. This two-day seminar will effectively illustrate the concepts and requirements for automatic sprinkler systems and how they apply to specific hazards.
Also a look into the future shall be addressed, find out more of the changes that are coming in the 2019 edition. Make sure that you are prepared and feel comfortable with the changes upfront…
Wednesday - Friday
NFPA 13 Storage Class
The NFPA 13 is a complex document filled with requirements for the design and installation of fire sprinkler systems. It can be especially confusing for many when it comes to storage protection requirements due in part to the variety of commodity classifications, storage arrangements and options, as well as the protection solutions associated with different sprinkler technologies (standard sprinklers, CMDA and ESFR options) with and without requirements for installing in-rack sprinklers.
Following the two-day, basic requirements for NFPA 13 course, the next three days will primarily be focused on sprinkler protection requirements for storage occupancies and applications. This program will introduce participants to sprinkler system design requirements for storage occupancies with a focus on commodity classifications, design methods and sprinkler types used for storage facilities. Starting with proper identification of commodity classifications and the application of sprinkler types, we will get deeper into the understanding how and why to select one or more of the options for fire protection provided in NFPA 13, Chapters 12 - 20. This interactive seminar will include a wide variety of group activities to demonstrate the nuances applied to storage occupancies. We will explore in depth, the design principals required to identify the most cost effective, code complaint fire protection solutions using real life scenarios. Each case study will be discussed and during the exercise’s you now have the possibility to discuss your options with a committee member of the NFPA 13.
“Better understanding of the storage design principles provides you cost and efficient fire protection solutions.”
Upon completion you will be able to:
- Define the organization of NFPA 13 and its general requirements
- Ascertain the hazard classification for an occupancy
- Identify and discuss the requirements for various sprinkler system components
- Recognize the different types of sprinkler systems and be familiar with their operation
- Establish installation requirements for the various types of sprinklers
- Appraise various system design requirements including:
- occupancy hazard fire control
- protection of storage occupancies
- protection of special hazards
- Determine the requirements for system design and installation deliverables including:
- plans and calculations
- water supply data
- system acceptance
Certificate of Educational Achievement
Friday afternoon the key concepts of the seminar will be reviewed and then participants are able to do an exam. Passing the exam will earn your Certificate of Educational Achievement, confirming your course knowledge.
An NFPA "certificate of educational achievement" recognizes that an individual has successfully met the requisites of an NFPA certificate program, including attainment of the training program's learning objectives. It is issued after an individual has successfully completed the required training program and has obtained a passing score on an examination. The examination is based solely on the educational content of the classroom training and will take the form of an open book examination.
“NFPA certificate of educational achievement is a must for Professionals who are looking to document that they understand the core concepts found within the training program in which they have participated”
Who Will Benefit
Engineers, plan reviewers, designers, installers, inspectors, manufacturers, insurers, consultants, and project managers
