Bob Caputo is a member of the NFPA 13 and 25 committees and a consultant to NFPA's Advisory Service providing interpretations of water-based systems standards. As a senior member of the NFPA, AFSA and Fire Smarts Faculties, Bob has written and presented seminars and webinars throughout the USA, Europe and the far and middle East on Fire Sprinkler System Design and Installation, Hydraulic Calculations, Plan Review, Fire Pumps, Standpipes and Special Hazards. He was named San Diego County Fire Prevention Officer of the Year in 1994 and Fire Protection Contractor Magazine's Person of the Year in 1997.
Matt Klaus is a Senior Fire Protection Engineer at the National Fire Protection Association, where he is responsible for NFPA documents addressing commissioning, integrated system testing and automatic sprinkler systems. He presently holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering as well as a masters degree in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Klaus has extensive fire protection engineering consulting experience where he was a project manager for projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as projects across the United States. His experience includes designing and commissioning fire protection systems including smoke control systems, suppression systems and fire alarm systems. His project work includes the use of fire and egress modeling software for engineering analyses of roadway tunnels, rail systems, football stadiums, high-rise buildings, shopping malls, and transportation hubs.
Bill Koffel is President of Koffel Associates, a fire protection and life safety engineering design and consulting firm, recognized as an expert in the fire protection and life safety aspects of codes and standards. Headquartered in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area, the firm provides consulting; engineering design & construction administration; codes & standards development; seminar development& training; product testing & evaluation / representation; and litigation support to public and private clients worldwide. Bill remains active in the development process of the industry's governing codes, standards and design guidelines including International Code Council (ICC), NFPA, Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and Underwriters Laboratory (UL). A former code official with the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office, he is Past President of the SFPE.
Tom de Nooij is a Risk Engineer and Managing Partner with Riskonet B.V., based in the Netherlands. He is also a Ceritified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) and senior instructor for NFPA and was the driving force behind NFPA Eurocon 2012
