It’s all about storage
18 - 22 March 2019
Riskonet in association with NFPA is hosting this official NFPA sprinkler engineering course in Europe
The NFPA is a globally acknowledged and accepted authority in the field of fire prevention and their standards are universally adopted and applied around the world. In order to support these fundamentals and the growing network of fire engineering practitioners, the NFPA has committed to establishing the same training in Europe that was previously only available in the US.
The training is to be conducted by the same professional NFPA lecturers used in the US. This sought after education will be to the same quality, standard and with the identical certification as delivered in the US. The handout material for library and future reference has been adapted for European application. This seminar will be delivered by two NFPA instructors, both of whom have participated and contributed in the development of NFPA codes and standards and are internationally recognized consultants.
There is no limitation or prerequisite for attendance but delegate numbers are limited to ensure quality attention and value delivery. Do not miss this opportunity to take advantage of the best professional training on the most significant aspect of fire protection sprinklers.
Who should attend
For all fire engineers, inspection authorities, certification bodies, plan reviewers, designers, installers, inspectors, insurers, risk consultants, risk managers, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about storage protection according to the NFPA 13 and 30 codes. Remain current with the latest industry developments and practices, new developments and shared experiences. These interactive seminars will bring you up-to speed on provisions found in the latest editions of NFPA 13 and 30.
A five day training session is planned in Krakow, Poland.

Installation of Sprinkler Systems (NFPA 13) 2019 Edition – Storage Class
The NFPA 13 is a complex document filled with requirements for the design and installation of fire sprinkler systems. It can be especially confusing for many when it comes to storage protection requirements due in part to the variety of commodity classifications, storage arrangements and options, as well as the protection solutions associated with different sprinkler technologies (standard sprinklers, CMDA and ESFR options) with and without requirements for installing in-rack sprinklers.
This unique storage class will be primarily focused on sprinkler protection requirements for storage occupancies and applications. This program will introduce participants to sprinkler system design requirements for storage occupancies with a focus on commodity classifications, design methods and sprinkler types used for storage facilities. Starting with proper identification of commodity classifications and the application of sprinkler types, we will get deeper into the understanding how and why to select one or more of the options for fire protection provided in newest edition of NFPA 13. This interactive seminar will include a wide variety of group activities to demonstrate the nuances applied to storage occupancies. We will explore in depth, the design principals required to identify the most cost effective, code complaint fire protection solutions using real life scenarios. Each case study will be discussed and during the exercise’s you now have the possibility to discuss your options with a committee member of the NFPA 13.
Thursday - Friday
Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code NFPA 30 (2018 Edition)
Learn about the latest requirements for the storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids. This seminar covers flammable and combustible liquids and defines terms used in understanding flammable and combustible liquids. During this seminar case studies will be handled and there is also a possibility to deal with case studies based on local experience.
Upon completion you will be able to:
- Explain the difference between flammable and combustible liquids.
- Know about the updates of 2018 edition
- Understand the basic properties of all liquids will be introduced, including specific gravity, vapor density, evaporation rate, viscosity, water solubility and surface tension
- List the properties of flammable liquids, including flash point, fire point, boiling point, flammable or explosive range, vapor pressure, auto-ignition temperature, flame propagation and burning characteristics (heat release, burning rates, smoke production, boil over, slipover, froth over)
Riskonet provides simultaneous English-Polish-English translation throughout the seminar. Those interested in the translation, please check the appropriate box in the registration form. This will help us to prepare the appropriate number of headsets for participants
